Christian BOUQUET, professor emeritus in political geography at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne, and researcher at the LAM (Sciences Po Bordeaux)
Christian Bouquet was first a Professor-researcher (1968-1983) in African universities (Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Madagascar, Central African Republic). He then (1984-2001) was attached to the Quai d'Orsay (French Foreign Office) and served as adviser responsible for cooperation in French embassies in Niger, the Comoros, Djibouti, Madagascar and Côte d'Ivoire. He practically stayed uninterrupted for more than thirty years on the African continent and in the Indian Ocean.
He came back in 2001 to his home university, where he specialized in political geography and in the study of the relationships between globalization and poverty, particularly in the area of access to water and land. He also works extensively on African crises, for which his expertise is recognized and has earned him numerous missions as an international consultant. In 2016, he created the African electoral mapping workshop at LAM at Sciences Po Bordeaux.
