Denis Couvet, professor at the Museum, is director of the Ecology and Biodiversity Management department. Agronomist and HDR engineer in "Ecology and evolutionary sciences", associate professor at the École Polytechnique from 1997 to 2011, author of two books and more than 150 publications, member of the Academy of Agriculture. Ecologist, modeller, his research focuses on biodiversity management policies, their interactions with ecological, economic and social mechanisms. These include proposing new analytical frameworks, mobilizing the notions of institution and social choice. His work focuses in particular on the informational basis of these social choices - observatories, indicators and biodiversity scenarios -, the mechanisms mobilized, the role of participatory sciences, notions of ordinary biodiversity and ecosystem services.
