Jean-Michel ROY, Anthropologist, Historian

Jean-Michel Roy, doctor in history (La Sorbonne 1998), is heritage conservation attaché and consultant. Since 1988, he has been studying peri-urban agriculture and the food trade, mainly in Ile-de-France, at first. In 2012, he was scientific commissioner of the exhibition organized by the city of Paris at the Bagatelle gardens "Do you know how to plant cabbages". Since 2016, he has carried out research on French market garden centers and on the history of vegetable rotation. In 2017, he and his son Léopold launched a participative site on gardening in France After having worked for the city of La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) for a long time, he now brings his knowledge and expertise to other communities and organizations.
