Jean ROTTNER, President, Grand Est Region, France
He has been President of the Grand Est Region since October 20, 2017. Prior to his election, Jean Rottner was Vice-President in charge of regional competitiveness and digital technology. He co-chaired the ""economic development, innovation and digital"" commission.
Member of the Parliament of the 5th district of Haut-Rhin from 2002 to 2012, he was elected First Deputy Mayor of Mulhouse in 2008 before being elected in 2010 following the resignation of Jean-Marie Bockel and in 2014 during the municipal elections. He is now the first deputy again. He is also a community advisor for Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération. In his capacity as Mayor of Mulhouse, he was elected President of the Federation of Urban Planning Agencies (FNAU) in September 2014. Jean Rottner is also Vice-President of the Association France Urbaine. Born in 1967 and doctor of medicine, he was an emergency hospital practitioner at the Mulhouse Hospital Centre (1997-2005) before directing its emergency medicine unit from 2005 to 2009. Within his political formation, the Republicans (ex-UMP), he is national secretary in charge of local elected officials.
