Stacy HAMMOND, Communications officer, YPARD, Nicaragua

Stacy Hammond is the communications focal point for the European regional unit of the Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD). Stacy is a graduate of Agroforestry Engineering at URACCAN (Nicaragua) and a Master’s in Tropical Crop Management and Ecology at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS). She is currently a Ph.D. student at CULS with focus on tropical agrobiology and bioresource management. Stacy’s range of agricultural interests from agroforestry to crop management led her to focus on the conservation of plant genetic resources in collaboration with the Crop Research Institute in Prague and Bioversity International Musa Germplasm Transit Centre, that is hosted at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Leuven, Belgium where she works on developing cryopreservation, and slow-growth in vitro protocols to preserve plant genetic material.
